It’s time to remember our brilliant Cheltenham and forget a moderate start to Aintree - so who do we fancy to make history in the 2010 Grand National?
We really fancy our e/w hope and long-shot (see the posts below) but most of you will be interested in our pick among the leading fancies for the race.

If you trained for the biggest owner in jump racing (JP McManus), you’d know that giving him a first National winner would be worth its weight in gold.
Therefore ’JP’ horses are more likely to be plotted up for the race than anyone else’s - cue our strong e/w fancy for King John’s Castle.

Mon Mome won at 100/1 last year but that is not a regular occurence despite the commonly held view that the race is a ’lottery’ - we wish the odds of winning the lottery were so low!

Peddlers Cross did us a good turn at Cheltenham and should be able to follow up here.
Whether he’s a betting proposition at 11/10 is highly debatable though so we advise a watching brief for all those who aren’t mad keen to have a bet in every race.

French Opera has the look of an ‘each-way steal’ bet at 7/2, as it’s hard to see him unplaced in this field and with his yard on such a good run.
The only doubt is his hard race at Cheltenham so we’ll play it sensible and go with one point to win.

This is a race full of clues for the future but it holds little betting appeal.
It’s hard to rule out any of the runners and equally difficult to pinpoint any substantial value, either from a win or each-way perspective.

As if the Grand National wasn’t tricky enough to solve, the Aintree executive happily schedule this mega-tricky 3m1f handicap chase in the build-up to the big race.
We’re not deterred though, as we feel there’s a value each-way proposition here in Alderburn.

This is a real old puzzle so we won’t indulge in any account bets, rather we will offer two runners up for those of you like an interest/smaller bet in all Festival races.
Our two against the field are Ballybriggan and Black Coffee.

We’d be guessing if we put up a tip in this bumper that ends the meeting, so we’ll leave it alone in the hope that we’ve had a better Saturday than Friday!

Menorah got us off to a good start at the Cheltenham Festival and should follow up here - the difference this time is that odds of 6/4 make little appeal.
We certainly wouldn’t oppose him nor would we lump on him so, for those of you who like an each-way option, we’ll pick a value alternative.

Ogee ran a fine race when third at Cheltenham and could follow up last year’s Grade 1 hurdle success at this meeting by seeing off the likes of RSA runner-up Burton Point.
If he hadn’t made a mistake two out, he may have won the William Hill Trophy, so his well-being is assured as he hasn’t […]
