While we have been a bit quiet since Aintree, we are still working hard and considering bets - indeed there is a possibility of something at Punchestown on Wednesday.

Aintree day 3 bets

Another decent day, with a 25/1 each-way bet grabbing a place (just!) and a couple of winners - Ataglance and Eleven Fifty Nine - being given good mentions, if not being full account bets.

Thursday saw a winner and another 25/1 shot placed, from four bets.

Two horses that stand out as punting material for us, away from the National are Marufo (3.25) and Population (5.25) - we will go a point each-way and a point win.

Aintree day 2 bets

Of the leading fancies today, Champion Court (2.30) and Alberta’s Run (3.05) look best and we will go for the latter for a one point win bet at 9/4.

He loves the ground at this time of year and can regain this title following Master Minded’s success in the race last time around.

We’ve managed to get internet access so here are our day 1 thoughts.

Big Buck’s is unopposable and also prohibitive in the betting so it’s Grumeti and Riverside Theatre that look the best options among the favourites today.

Irish National bet appeals
