Mares Novices Hurdle

Jamie Snowdon’s You Wear It Well won this easily last year at 16/1, and today’s field offers plenty of potential for big price winners. An 11 horse field includes some quality runners, and at the head of the field is Gordon Elliot’s Brighterdaysahead. Three out of three over hurdles, this is a very promising horse and form justifies 11/8.

Likely to be in the mix is Jade De Grugy from the Willie Mullins yard. This is a horse from which a lot is expected, and excellent form here and in France says she’s up for this challenge. Unbeaten in hurdles and novice hurdles is Dysart Enos, another exciting prospect. Fergal O’Brien has Paddy Brennan in the saddle and we fancy this one strongly.

At a bigger price is Birdie Or Bust from the de Bromehead stable and with Rachael Blackmore at the reins. She appears to have been kept fresh for this and is an interesting runner, but may find there is quality above her means among the competition. Can’t be ruled out, but be cautious.

Golden Ace, trained by Jeremy Scott and steered by Lorcan Williams, is good value at 10/1 and is among the more likely double-figure priced horses to be there at the end. We mark this one out as the dark horse in a competitive race.
